THE EARLY CHILDHOOD COMMISSION

The Early Childhood Commission (ECC) a Statutory Body of the Ministry of Education and Youth with responsibility to regulate the operation of Early Childhood Institutions, is seeking to identify highly motivated and dynamic individuals to fill the following post:

MANAGER, COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS (MCG/IE 4) – VACANT

Job Purpose
The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing and managing an effective communication and public relations programme for the Commission and monitoring the public relations and communication programmes of entities that fall directly under the portfolio of the ECC in support of the ECC and the Ministry of Education strategic goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
 Participates in the ECC’s strategic planning process
 Prepares and monitors the Communications and Public Relations Unit’s operational plan and budget
 Develops and periodically updates communication and public/media relations policies and procedures for the ECC and oversees their implementation
 Manages corporate public relations activities
 Develops relations with the media, lobbies for the introduction of policies and standards for programming to protect and support young children, and serves as the ECC’s primary media contact
 Coordinates press conferences and interviews, briefings and media events and assists managers in preparing for them
 Develops and implements public education/information programmes utilizing the mass media and public fora to foster greater understanding and public awareness of the role and functions of the ECC and wider ECD issues.
 Develops and maintains editorial and graphical standards for public information
 Develops and/or reviews and maintains the content of the ECC’s Website

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience
 First degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations/Journalism or equivalent qualifications, with five (5) years’ experience in a public relations or marketing position at a senior level Or
 Post graduate degree with three (3) years’ experience in public relations/communications

Remuneration: Salary Scale $4,266,270.00 – $5,737,658.00 per annum, and any other allowances attached to the post
