EARLY CHILDHOOD COMMISSION

The Early Childhood Commission (ECC) welcomes applications from interested persons who meet the requirements for the following vacant post:

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT (ECD) SUPERVISOR, (GMG/SEG 2)

REGION 1

Description of Duties:

Overseeing the provision of technical support given by regional Early Childhood Development Officers to Early Childhood Institutions (ECIs) and Early Childhood Resource Centres, as well as contributing to the development of national intervention strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development and/or strengthening of governance systems for ECIs by developing and implementing regional strategies to enhance ECI management bodies, through training and other methods
  • Identifies regional systemic deficiencies in the knowledge and skills of operators and practitioners and recommends strategies for improvement
  • Identifies regional systemic deficiencies impairing the ability of ECIs to meet legal and regulatory requirements and recommends strategies for improvement
  • Assists with the implementation of in-service professional development programmes as required to address developmental needs of Early Childhood Practitioners in ECIs and liaises with external specialists to support professional development
  • Oversees curriculum development and implementation in ECIs
  • Oversees delivery of training programmes at Resource Centres
  • Provides technical guidance to Development Officers (EC Resource Centres) in areas of development of teaching and learning materials, parenting and community involvement
  • Reviews emerging trends based on reports from Development Officers (Resource Centres) and recommends strategies to address systemic issues
  • Supports parenting and community involvement by attending regional stakeholder meetings

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Leadership, Early Childhood Education or equivalent
  • At least five (5) years experience in early childhood development or related field, with three (3) years experience in coordinating early childhood programmes
  • Expert knowledge of the Early Childhood Commission Act, the Early Childhood Act (2005) and Regulations, the Standards for the Operation and Management of Early Childhood Institutions and other laws and policies governing the Early Childhood Sector
  • Expert knowledge of the early childhood sector, child development and parenting
  • Sound knowledge of basic statistical applications

Remuneration: Salary Scale $1,816,614.00 – $2,159,383.00 per annum

Must possess a valid driver’s licence and reliable motor vehicle
